Common questions

What is an MLAK key?

MLAK stands for Master Locksmiths Access Key. It opens public facilities fitted with an MLAK lock, such as locked accessible toilets and Changing Places facilities.

How do I get an MLAK key?

Keys are ordered through Master Locksmiths, after filling in an application form. They are for people with disability, or people with written authority from a doctor, a disability organisation, a community health centre, or the owner or manager of a building with an accessible toilet.

How current is this list?

It comes from the National Public Toilet Map, published by the Australian Government, and is refreshed every week. Facilities close and change, so check each toilet's page for its listed hours before a long detour.
